This is a charming combination of pen and ink drawing and watercolour painting. With pen and ink it's possible to draw all the intricate details. Colour adds a new dimension and since watercolour is transparent, you can still see drawn details.

This is a fourth pine cone I drew. The first two are pencil drawing, I was inspired with the form and structure. The third is pen and ink drawing, the emphasis is on a rhythm.
In this drawing/painting I was primarily inspired with the play of light and shadow.
