I was delighted to be invited to contribute sculpting sections for the Dorling Kindersley Artist’s Manual, which included photographs showcasing various modelling techniques. This inspired me to create my Pig and Chicken sculpture, a project I had been contemplating for some time, to illustrate realistic sculpting. The piece is based on one of our rescue pigs and a rescue battery hen named Daisy, who loved to flap up onto Pog’s back and balance there, even as he moved around.

To enhance the composition, I borrowed Holly’s lovely pointed ears, adding to the charm of the piece. I truly enjoyed capturing the gentle humour of their interaction in this sculpture.
