Original artwork description:

The definition of psychophobia is commonly described as: a form of mentalism, or discrimination against people based on intelligence, mental health or mental disorder. It can also be described as fear of the mind in general.

Psychophobia is a painting based on the fear of mental ill-health or the fear and discrimination of people with mental illnesses.
Many people I know, myself included have experienced this in the past.
The painting, pictorially is based on Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez.
Many of the panels/pieces on the studio wall related to the themes of mental health, illness, fear and discrimination.
The main figure can be seen as an artist or/and the viewer, both looking and being looked at. Some of the panels/pieces are based on actual pieces of art which I have produced myself.
I have worked in art and mental health clinics and with mental health groups in the past and have listened to peoples stories and experiences of mental ill-health and discrimination.
This is another personal piece, which I have had for many years and i feel that now is the right time to put it out there, into the world and let it go, as it were.
