Phoenix (2023) is a 100 x 150 cm abstract textural artwork featuring the fantastical bird rising from its ashes, leaving behind it the cage which kept it tied down for so long, along with all of the trauma, the pain and the disappointment it has been confronted to. As it is reborn, it sheds all of the weight of the past and rises anew, ready to take on life again stronger than ever before.
Gold dust was used across the artwork to bring the flames surrounding the bird to life, giving it an almost 3D aspect.
This piece was made of mixed mediums, including: acrylics, charcoal, paste, pencils, pens, gold dust and oils.
