694- Phantom Catenaries - Les Caténaires Fantômes.
Oil on stretched canvas (27cm x35cm). Finished round the edge but unframed.
The remnants of the Mirabeau suspension bridge over the Durance river. The chains have long gone, only now to be seen in old sepia or black and white photographs. To demonstrate this loss of its ancient glory the painting has been rendered in complementary colours to the real view with a small cartouche of the photograph. The second image shows this complement.
