This oil depicts the market in the town of Pézenas in winter. Living not far I often go there and decided to paint it. I made sketches and a watercolour in-situ which I then used to realise this oil on a linen canvas. In the foreground human figures are moving towards the colourful market tents. Beyond them bare plane trees stand out on the facades of old houses lit by the winter sun. The synthetic overview conveys the atmosphere of this traditional market. This work is framed with a wooden floating frame and ready to hang.
