“Personal boundaries” canvas, acrylic, 40x40cm

We have all often heard that one must learn to defend one's personal boundaries, one's opinions, one's preferences. But why do they say so little “don’t get into the life of strangers, respect the choice of another, it’s normal when a person thinks differently than you”. I was inspired to write this work by the war in Ukraine, much to my regret. The borders of our land are not perceived by the neighboring state, it wants to have influence on us. all this gave me to reflect on the internal problems of a person when a man cannot perceive the thoughts of another person due to the fact that it is different.

I was inspired by icons and Byzantine frescoes, which often depict saints with a certain hand gesture.
Four arms like the four sides of the cross, like the four cardinal points. It turned to one side because they call for defense.

On the background, as always, Ukrainian ornaments. The background of the painting is also covered with brilliant varnish and the hands are matte to make the composition more interesting and expressive.

Materials used:

Acrylic
