A container for the universe within. This series began with this form - a simple figure in a resting pose. After this painting, it surprised me that took so long to use a shaped ground. Figures for me have always been made up of the same stuff as their environments. Moving toward the figure as a vessel for the expressive mark has been a natural evolution.
