Original artwork description:

We moved several peony plants with us when we moved to Maine, and then I bought some more! I had no idea that they would do so well here, or that that they would take three full years before they began to bloom in profusion. Now, I am in peony heaven. Each spring, I wait for them to bloom, knowing that it will be June before they begin to bloom, and then with luck, we will have three weeks of peony glory.

I love painting peonies! I love the texture of the petals and the way that the edges of the petals catch the light. It is interesting to experiment with thick and thin paint to capture the light on the peonies - thick lights and thinner darks.

This is painted on a gallery wrapped canvas, and the edges are painted grey. there is a wire on the back, so it is ready to hang!
