Artwork description:

I am part of a group of artists called 'The Collective Art Group' and this is a collagraph varied edition hand made print I did a few months ago for an art show at Wentworth Woodhouse near Rotherham. This great house has been featured in the TV drama Victoria and more recently in Gentleman Jack. Wentworth Woodhouse comprises two joined houses, forming west and east fronts. The original house, now the west front, with the garden range facing northwest towards the village, was built of brick with stone details. The east front of unsurpassed length is said to have been built as the result of a rivalry with the Stainborough branch of the Wentworth family. This hand made print is based on the history and ornament of Wentworth Woodhouse. After taking a tour of the house and gardens, I set about producing this piece of work. This artwork is printed on 370gsm cartridge paper . This is from a limited edition of 2. This being number two. A collagraph print is one made from a plate with different textures. My printing plate is made from mounting board. The process is a combination of intaglio and relief. I cut into the plate with a scalpel. Then I sealed it with shellac. The plate is then coloured with stay open inks and printed. I will pack this print flat between layers of cardboard (see me at work pic) This print is sold unframed.

Materials used:

stay open oil based inks on cartridge paper
