The most beautiful of Summer afternoons at the beach. Light blue water laps softly on the sand and pale aqua water stretches into the perfect light blue sky. All is muted and soft, an image made to gaze at for many years.

Made on a tiny beach at the southern tip of the Isle of Harris. A place of peace and quiet where few people live. On these shores you can feel as if you live a long way off from the rest of the world. It is a soothing and uplifting place where idyllic scenes like this pass by unnoticed by all but those who seek them out to cherish them.

My work is all about the emotional connection we have to a place and the moment in our memory when we felt such intense pleasure looking at a landscape. I am driven to capture the essence of a place with my camera, working mainly with the colours and shapes I see when I half close my eyes. I travel to remote islands, to places steeped in history, unspoilt beaches and wild rocky coastlines where I love to work in quiet solitude.
