To make this watercolor etude I was inspired by a truly splendid pear with a bunch of leaves on its stem. I put the pear on a plate with a periodic pattern, which reminds me some heraldic motifs. The blue border of the plate harmonizes the composition. I tried to express the various shades and texture of the fruit, its roughness and beauty. Especially I like leaves, barely touched with fading but totally picturesque. I tried to leave a lot of white paper surface to preserve the freshness and transparent texture of watercolor.
