Peacock Feather Mosaic Art.
I wanted to make a series of feathers not only as I have a fascination with birds, but also as an experiment to challenge the nature of mosaic. I attempted to capture the delicate and fine nature of a feather by using thin strips of glass. In this peacock feather I have used iridescent green glass which adds an ethereal quality to the piece. I have also used strips of my hand-gilded gold coloured metal leaf, and a chunk of thick milliefiori rod that I bought like a stick of rock from a wonderful shop in Venice some years ago.
It is set in a white cement mixture so it has a level surface and framed in a white box frame. This one comes without a glass front, but can be fitted if you prefer.
