Paulava Republic is a place in Lithuania which many years ago was a self-governing farmer community (a micro-state)(1769-1795). What you see in the painting is the ruins of Merkinė manor that is located in the territory of Paulava Republic. During WW2 the manor was damaged and later destroyed by fire. This painting was made last August (2024) during a Plein air which was a real challenge because it was a heavily rainy day! I had to finish it later at home, but every experience was worth it!
canvas, gesso, oil paint, gloss varnish, frame
