When temperatures are frosty and there is a fall of snow, the forest is transformed into a winter wonderland. It is an especially magical moment if you have a chance encounter with one of the forest's inhabitants. A fox might be on the hunt, interested but largely unperturbed when his path is crossed by a human, before he continues on his way.
This painting entitled "Paths Cross" was inspired by sightings of a fox on the edge of the forest near my home in Germany. I have often watched him unhurriedly crossing the field before disappearing into the trees, pouncing, cat-like on an unsuspecting field mouse or just basking in the sunshine. Painted on Hahnemühle 600g rough mould-made watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints, "Paths Cross" comes mounted in a warm white mount to fit a frame size of 35 x 45cm. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist, this painting is part of a trilogy of winter forest animals. See also the leaping stag in "Fleeting Encounter" and impish squirrel in "Busy!".
