Original artwork description:

This piece was a private commission; something I am always so honored to be asked to do. Someone’s grandchildren had finally gotten to the age where she was ready to have their portrait painted. I presented lots of Ideas from other portrait commissions I’d done, and she liked best the idea of “The Jar”; which to me implies “preserving your memories”. ( I first conceived this type of image just as my first grandson was being born.) For me, it’s always an image I enjoy recreating.
