Original artwork description:

Very soon, I will be heading back to my beloved South of France... I am looking forward to tranquil days, passed without any sense of being hurried.... I have been reflecting on the time I spent living in Collioure; the town where "Fauvism" was born.... At the time, I was difinitively NOT interested in utilizing the Fauvist characteristics in my work.... But with this piece, it suddenly seemed to interest me.... The rolling hills beyond where the subjects are seated, tout a little Village; a detail so common to Provence.... In this painting, the Couple is gazing at something in the distance; and the woman seems to be pointing out something specifically, that we the viewer, don't see.... This canvas is painted around the edges so that it can be hung unframed....
