acrylic colour on acid free watercolour paper 300gm weight , 8.5 x 11.5 in, 21.5 x 29.5 cm
Small projects in A4 size are great to work out ideas, and just as a way of staying agile with colour and paper. Here I keep the lines fluid, the colours simple, spontaneous and expressive. The challenge is to put movement into the painting with colour and ‘splash’. The simpler result can be quite refreshing. This design is taken randomly from my pile of pencil & graphite sketches & exercises. I finally get around to reworking the wonderful sketch and expanding the idea.
The close up picture is to give a better sense of the paint, paper and the brush stroke. Then there’s the work in progress on my work table where you can see that I’m also working on a few projects at the same time.... brain just works better that way. In fact on the worktable ‘Martial art’ has just been started. This title ‘Partial tart’ just seemed to flow naturally from that other project … so it just happened.
