PARROTS IN PARADISE. Mixed media drawing 76cm x 56cm overall
The title was the easy part, it was the first thing that came to me when I looked at the finished drawing and it made me smile. On the serious side I have been taking a good look at my work lately and found that I had fallen into the habit of filling up my pictures until there is no white paper not covered. Having spent all my artistic life trying to get rid of the white either on canvas or paper. I just did not know when to stop. White can be very powerful in a picture, knowing when to leave it is a lot harder for me than adding it at a later date. I think that in the back of my mind leaving white areas was going down the minimal art style, although an interesting route to take, it was not the route I wanted to explore. Anyway, with this drawing, I was very conscious of leaving white areas and hopefully harnessing the power.
