Original artwork description:

The thick, rough smatterings of oil paint in this tumultuous composition together conform to allude to the nature of our political process and the pervasive void of leadership that lately defines our shared human experience. "Parker," our one heroic candidate, a savior poised ready to lead us from our own self-destructive ways, flies angelically left to right above the fray, wings spread and chin turned upward in resigned profile into the top right corner of the canvas. On second reading however the wings morph into the head and legs of a second standing figure, this one turned in left profile diametrically away from, and seemingly with contrary aims to, the impulses of the main, dominate Parker figure. The upraised left arm of this second player, designated by just a grey smudge with hand upturned, conjures the notion of looking back in yearning for better days, here signifying the "people" whose view is to be overcome. Left unresolved in visually laying out this conflict is which resolution, that attributable to ways of the past or the future, would be best for those involved.

Influences, among others, include Max Beckmann, Edvard Munch, Bob Thompson, George McNeil, Richard Diebenkorn, David Park, Francesco Clemente, R.B. Kitaj and Willem de Kooning.
