Some people become icons of elegance, impeccable taste and style. Such was Karl Lagerfeld. Perhaps for people not interested in fashion, it is just a surname with German roots, but for me, a former student of fashion design, in my time it was G-d.
About 10 years ago I was lucky enough to visit an exhibition of his photography at the Saatchi Gallery in London. It was impressive.
Just recently, a bibliographical movie was released dedicated to this man who has already left us. I watched his difficulties in his personal life, his formation as a Paris couturier and thought about how not easy it is to become a Name. After all, for the world to remember someone for more than one day, to become someone like Karl Lagerfeld, Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, Christian Dior you need to have not just outstanding talent, extraordinary efficiency and accompanying luck... but you also need to have an irrepressible faith in yourself, in your destiny.
So, this Unicorn is dedicated to the great maestro and to everyone who brought beauty and harmony into the human look in his time.
This is a one-of-a-kind drawing made by me in tempera, gouache and colored pencils on high quality paper (260 gm. Cotton, durable, Neutral pH, acid-free, lignin-free). The drawing was fixed with professional spray varnish for gouache drawings for preservation. The image is signed by hand on the front side. Not framed.
