After several paintings that took longer than normal to complete, I wanted to do something simple. I did work in a different way on this piece in that I begin by dropping paint directly into the canvas, then simply spread it around, leaving what became the Vases, with a very thick, uneven surface. After painting in some flowers, I decided adding a different texture- heavy paper, layered with torn bits to create petals- was the perfect way to continue. This straightforward, simple tablescape, is painted around the edges so the piece can be hung, unframed.
