A particularly large number of black cats can be found in the Southeast Asian subspecies of leopards. As for example with the Java leopard – there it should be up to 50 percent.
The leopard is an endangered species and is on the RED LIST. The main causes of this are poaching and the loss of their habitat. Poachers hunt leopards for fur and bones for the illegal trade.
Habitat loss, eg due to increasing deforestation, is a major threat to leopard populations
