366 metres long and 51 metres wide, the container ship 'Millau Bridge' transits the Panama Canal. As with many such ships, she was built to the maximum size the canal can carry. The Panama Canal links the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, providing a trade lifeline between East and West. Built at enormous financial and personal cost, the 51 mile passage is ranked by the Society of American Civil Engineers among the seven wonders of the world.
Producing this print employed two techniques: the black was printed from a relief matrix and colours were added via stencils. The method parallels German playing card makers of the sixteenth century. The print would fit straight into a standard 11 x 13 inch frame.
