The painting is inspired by scenes I see in tropical rain forests. In this case I went on an excursion to one of the National parks here in Malaysia. I equipped myself with pencils and paper. The rest was done in studio...
The paper I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. The result is a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
