An original encaustic depicting a tree. 30x30 cm board.
Medium: acrylic, oil pastel, wax.
The multiple layers of wax and oil pastels create depth and subtle colour vibrations. The painting is very highly textured - the grass and tree branches are literally scrapped out of the wax layers. And the best news is you don't even need to frame it under glass and it's safe to touch! So for all of the texture lovers such as myself it's a big bonus :)
Wax is a unique medium that has a very smooth satin finish, is resistant to water and is very easy to sustain. Keep it away from heat and fire - wax melts at 170 degrees C (338F), don't put any pressure to the surface to not damage it.
