I had photographed this reference ages ago on a beach in the Netherlands. As I was going through my images, I was deeply inspired by this little girl on the cusp of exploring the world in front of her. A life full of promise, full of adventure.

I simplified everything in the background and also the foreground, so as to keep the focus completely on the child. I wanted to capture her body language as authentically as possible and I must say I am happy with the result.
