Pain
This is a painting of a boy terrorised, traumatised and injured by air attacks. I really wanted to emphasise the sadness, shock and loss of innocence in the eyes of the child. I desperately wanted to send over a message loud and clear that if we as adults must destroy and terrorise to benefit our material needs then we should not drag children into this cruel game. The child knows innocence, a gift given to a child that adulthood dilutes.
I wanted to incorporate Picasso’s Guernica into the painting to show a visual image of the child’s scream and how unfortunately times have not changed.
