GICLÉE PRINTS: 45x55cm image on PermaJet FB Gold Silk 315 (51x71cm) paper using Epson UltraChrome HD inks.
This view of the Circle and District lines platforms at Paddington offers the unusual glimpse of blue sky from within a central London Underground station. Originally known as Praed Street station, these lines sit just below road level and are partly open to the elements.
This oil painting is part of a series of works celebrating the distinctive engineering and atmosphere of the London Underground. By careful selection of perspectives and viewpoints (and by removing almost all of the people), Rebecca is able to take ordinary scenes and reveal their underlying beauty and style, which can so often go unnoticed.
