Still some fabulous late autumn colours around here. As we were on partial lockdown here in France, I set up my kit at the bottom of my neighbour’s paddock, and started doing some investigations into abstracting the landscape – basically throwing paint and stuff around while keeping enough of the form to keep it looking like a landscape.A few alterations in the studio, and I end up with what looks to me like an unmistakeable bit of Australiana. Love travelling around the world painting, but perhaps this must be the subconscious telling me to spend a bit more time at home, in the ‘land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains.
