Original artwork description:

This OVAL PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG WOMAN was painted in oils on linen canvas in 2015 while I was staying in Northern California, near Nevada City.

It is a painting of my indigenous Mexican model who posed 5 times in my studio.
The portrait is in neoclassical style.
I painted it as an exercise in order to improve my technique and to imitate neoclassical old masters. I don't want to be original, I want to achieve their level.
Leonardo da Vinci inspired me when painting this portrait.
The subject looks like a madonna from renaissance and I wanted her to look like one, looking down, instead of frontal.
It has many layers, I started with a grisaille and then built up the surface with various stratus of paint.

This painting will be carefully packaged and shipped, stretched on an oval frame.
