The inspiration behind this body of work lies in the deep history of woven textiles, as well as ceramic and tiling , for instance, particularly traditional carpets that have been passed down through generations, each carrying its own unique narrative and meaning. Carpets, often regarded as functional objects, are, in my view, profound works of art that blend geometry, color, and narrative. The complexity of their designs, sometimes seen as too intricate to appreciate at first glance, offers a visual and emotional depth that invites prolonged exploration.
Each piece in Out of Contest is an exploration of how the visual language of carpets and tiling design can evolve when taken out of its usual context, allowing it to be reinterpreted through a modern lens. The collection highlights not only the beauty of the designs themselves but also the cultural narratives they carry, whether abstract or figurative, as they are woven into the very fabric of history. These paintings challenge the viewer to reconsider the role of craft and art, and question where one ends and the other begins.

This painting will be carefully packed and shipped to ensure its protection from any damage during transit.
