In this piece, I aimed to capture the atmosphere as the final drops of rain fall at dawn. Beams of light ignite the skies as the sun rises.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies, land and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
I study the skies over the Cheshire hills, close to my home and also the coastal skies over North Wales,
The green and sable tones are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
