Story about the painting:
This painting was inspired by a story of great love from ancient Greek mythology, which I freely processed according to my own imagination and transferred to the 21st century. I incorporated into it the hidden symbolism and aspects of love, eroticism and sexuality, respectively the approach to them among some men today. Find out for yourself whether today's Orpheus has anything in common with the mythological Orpheus after reading the abridged ancient Greek story.
Orpheus, the son of the god Apollo and the muse Calliope, was the greatest musician and singer who enchanted people and gods with his lyre playing and magical singing, calmed animals and birds, soothed nature and established peace and tranquility in it.
When he lost his beloved wife Eurydice by accident, he went to the god of the underworld, Hades, asking him to return her to the world of the living.
He managed to soften his heart and Hades granted his wish. However, he gave Orpheus a condition that he will walk in front of Eurydice on the way from the underworld and not look back, because he can only see her in the world of the living. However, Orpheus did not stop at the end of the journey, he looked back, and Eurydice had to return to the realm of the dead. Orpheus never recovered from this misfortune, from then on his songs were only sad.
