Gladiola tell us a story about people seeking protection in the face of danger from those who are next to them. Therefore the composition is shifted to the right which shows us how far the flowers recoiled from a scary spider. We see a lady (purple) falling into the arms of a gentleman (blue) and he is protecting her delicate flower with his petals.
