Artwork description:
This is a limited edition etching called 'Orford Walk 2', inspired by a windy walk at Orford on the Suffolk coast. There is a companion print 'Orford Walk 1'.
The image is painted on a copper plate with a sugar solution which is then covered with a thin layer of wax. The plate is then immersed in hot water and the sugar solution comes off, leaving the bare copper where I have painted. It is then covered with aquatint, a fine resin dust, which is fused to the plate with a bunsen burner. The copper is then immersed in acid to bite the image onto the plate. The background is done separately as a mono print on a piece of plastic, so the sky in every print is slightly different.
The print measures 16cm x 10.5cm and is taken from an edition of 25. It will be signed and numbered underneath the image.
