Original artwork description:

Painted on-site at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum with oil over casein paint on canvas. Features a skyline of autumn trees in a range of gold and yellow hues. Incorporates iridescent bronze and russet paint. The texture of the foliage in the trees and on the ground is enhanced by palette knife work. Further textural contrast is provided by the sky, whose watery and granulating effect was created with casein paint and finished with an oil glaze. The open space between the larger trees to the left and right, into which reaches the thin trunk of a young birch, evokes an optimistic feeling.
