Open Water Blues is a 30 x 40 inch (approx 101 x 76cm) realist oil painting on canvas. The painting is a continuation of Christopher Witchall’s preoccupation with the movement and colour of the ocean - endlessly changing shape and colour. The subject of this painting is further out to sea this time, with no horizon or waves crashing on the beach to anchor the viewer in a specific place. The viewer is literally lost at sea!
Christopher Witchall's unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
Open Water Blues is painted on a deep edge stretched canvas, so there is no need for framing and can be hung immediately. It is signed on the front bottom right and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
