The surfer ethos of single minded pursuit of a calling is a standout in a materialistic environment. Speaking as an outsider I admire the physical & metaphorical cutting of earthly ties that the act of surfing entails. This painting was an education in colors - I was taken aback at the florescence of the yellow when placed against the right intensity of blue and similarly how the orange red is set off by the orange browns.
