Ukrainian Cossack Church in Autumn, Sumy, Ukraine, original watercolour painting. It was inspired by Ukrainian architecture in the city where I live in.
This building maybe the oldest one or one of the oldest ones in Sumy. When a group of cossacks headed by Herasym Kondratiev came to this land where there were nothing but oak groves and birch woods, the cossacks built this church many centuries ago and established the city named Sumy (in 1652). Due to the old tale, the name Sumy means a bag that was lost at this land. The bad was filled in with gold coins. So the history of Sumy began…
