An Original Oil painting for sale 24″ x 36″ framed and limited edition prints depicting Formula 1 driver Jim Clark in his Lotus type 49 race car, overlooked by the Lotus boss Colin Chapman and the Lotus mechanics at the Dutch Grand Prix Zandvoort 1967.
Team Lotus were almost off the ground with pride, having two Lotus 49 cars with Cosworth 3-litre V8 engines, one being the car that Graham Hill had been testing in England and the other being brand-new, which Clark saw for the first time when he arrived on the morning of the first practice day. Based on a photo by Rainer W. Schlegelmilch.
Artist Martin Allen is based in London. Martin came to oil painting through a circuitous route, having drawn for most of his life and being largely self-taught he was eventually re-introduced to oil painting as a preferred medium to create his varied and diverse work. The methods he uses to paint are classic ones, using layered paint applications rounded off by oil glazes. These create, add depth and harmonise colours. He has shown solo numerous times at Goodwood, The Affordable Art Fair and others, been a finalist at the ‘London art Biennale 2019’, alongside various commissions including work for the BP Shipping collection and most recently appearing in Vogue magazine.
