1986. Colour sumi inks (Japan) on bleached rice paper. 11.5 x 8 in., 29.5 x 20 cm.
This is a series of 12 panels I call ‘The mirror’, a project I did oh so long ago! My materials then were different, and I was able to work with this absorbent rice parchment art paper without preliminary sketch or reference lines. This is all paint brushed on a blank page. This can be purchased as a complete set of 12 or purchased singly or just a selection from the 12. For now all are available.
This is a reflective work of me and my interpretations of what I was seeing around me in a new town. It was my first exploration to a city new to me, Vancouver BC. I was invited to stay with a friend, and that be the mirror facing me at the table where I was doing this project. This panel has the wall light merging into the mirror before my attention is drawn out into the city.
The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
Please note that you can purchase up to 3 paintings of this same size or smaller to be included in 1 order and pay only 1 shipping fee. Packaging for my small paintings like this one is sealed in plastic sleeve, sealed in a padded hard plastic file case, and in an envelope.
