Charles Dickens tale of Oliver Twist is timeless. I was not thinking more than the image of him asking “please sir can I have some more” is moving image to me. It does coincide with the government in U.K. withdrawing school dinner fund to the poor and may be that played a part in the inspiration but I did not consciously think of that when painting but maybe it was a sub conscious part of the process. I’m a London-based artist, and my work often reflects vivid and surreal imagery inspired by my unique experience with REM intrusion—a condition where dream-like visions can appear while I’m awake. My paintings explore the boundary between waking reality and the dream world, using layered compositions to create a sense of depth and movement. I paint with high-quality materials and put a lot of thought into texture and detail. My process is a mix of intuitive brushwork and deliberate layering, aiming to create pieces that are rich in emotion and invite you to see something new each time you look at them.
