The drawing depicts an unequal union of two images: young graceful woman and an old man. The man is like a rock sitting with his rough, brightly lighted back to a viewer. By contrast, almost all the figure of the shy girl is covered with a soft shadow. An antithesis of these people’s nature and characters is stressed by the difference between the things they sit on.
