On a camping trip to a nice farm site in Suffolk, I came across an old pond whilst walking my dog Indy along a farm track. It was tucked away amongst undergrowth that was teeming with verdant growth including tall grasses and wild flowers. The pond itself had small fish, probably rudd, dimpling on top and water boatman skimming through the surface film. It looked very deep, almost foreboding. Nonetheless, I was glad to have found it, as many farm ponds were lost in the name of progress during the post-war agricultural boom.
This painting is dedicated to the lost ponds and the myriad of life they sustained.
