Original artwork description:

"Cause he was going down a grade making 90 miles an hour,
The whistle broke into a scream.
He was found in the wreck with his hand on the throttle,
Scalded to death by steam."

This is part of the lyrics of "The Wreck of Old 97". It was the first recording in the U.S. to sell one million copies. The song was based on an actual event that happened in 1903 near Danville Virginia. It has been sung by numerous recording artists.

Oh, now all you ladies better take a warning,
From this time on and learn.
Never speak harsh to your true-lovin' husband,
He may leave you and never return.

My interpretation of "Old 97" is a one of a kind original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint on 5 mil archival grade mylar. I have stayed with my usual pallet of warm “earthy” colors.
I only sell original work so there will only be one original.
The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
This painting will be ready to hang, out of the box. It will be mounted on tempered masonite with a two inch border all around. It will have a hanging strip on the back and I include a “monkey hook” for easy attachment to your wall. It can be on your wall within five minutes.
