Original artwork description:

I love peonies and I wanted to reference their eastern origins by painting them in a Chinese vase. Peonies are such robust and solid flowers and always seem to look like large scoops of ice cream to me. I painted them with Cotinus from my garden, such beautiful foliage that compliments so many flowers.
This is painted on a linen canvas and is framed in a dark green burnished frame with a white slip and gold beading.

Materials used:

Oil on linen canvas
