Original artwork description:

The ocean serves as a reflective canvas, mirroring the ebb and flow of our innermost truths, and as the ocean's mood shifts with the wind and sun, so too do our emotions as we find purity and truth in nature's embrace. "Ocean Blues" tries to capture the everchanging flow of life, visualized by the abundant hues of that primary color, and the ebb and flow of the tide.

In this Tofino, British Columbia based series, I explore the connection between human emotions and the ever-changing seascape. Nature has the profound ability to evoke a wide range of emotions, from tranquility and joy to fear and awe, through its beauty, symbolism, and impact on our physical and psychological well-being. Through the medium of acrylics and collage, I strive to capture the forces with which nature generates emotion.

How is it that we arrive at the oceanside with feelings of anxiety, or fear and leave with calm and courage? How do we transition from feeling caged or enslaved to feeling uplifted and free? Where does the melancholy come from?

The ocean serves as a reflective canvas, mirroring the ebb and flow of our innermost truths, and as the ocean's mood shifts with the wind and sun, so too do our emotions as we find purity and truth in nature's embrace.

My artwork invites viewers to immerse themselves in this interdependent connection, acknowledging the entanglement of humanity with the elements of the natural world. Through each brushstroke and layer of collage, I aim to capture the profound, innate connection we share with the natural world.
