Original artwork description:

I travelled way on out into the Desert Southwest to paint this one. From a series of watercolor paintings I made in 1991 on a painting trip to the beautiful American Desert.
In the Sonoran Desert of the American Southwest in the United States and Mexico grows the Ocatillo. It's not exactly a cactus, but it may as well be one. It grows in the hot, hostile desert. The ocatillo has long cane-like spires with red flowers on the ends. It's a beautiful plant and it thrives in the Desert Southwest.
The desert is beautiful and inspiring. My sister used to live near this spot (where I painted this painting) in the desert. Every morning she would throw open the curtains and say, "Ahhhhh......Another perfect day!"
I painted this watercolor while I was in Arizona in 1991 and have decided to put some of the desert series up for sale for the first time on ArtFinder. You'll find some more of them on my gallery page, with more to come!
On high quality watercolor board (the legendery Whatman Watercolor Board) and framed under glass as shown.

Materials used:

watercolor, watercolorpaper
