Original artwork description:

Drawing done with wet sauce. What is Sauce? Sauce (or Soyuz, in Russian) is a centuries old Russian medium. It is a pastel/charcoal-like crayon made of pigment, Chasov Yar clay, and carbon in a compressed stick. Sauce is a very intriguing and versatile medium, possessing incredible depth, solidity, and subtlety. Tonally superior to charcoal, it has a smooth, velvety appearance and is totally dissolvable in water, where it becomes dense and inky black. Incredibly strong in pigmenting power, Sauce must be crushed into a powder using a pestle and mortar before application in a drawing or painting. It can be used like charcoal when dry, but when water is added, it completely dissolves to become black and inky, and can be used as an ink wash.
